Pain Point Matrix

Initial Case Study Idea
01. Upgrade the Interface
The PM team's initial approach was to redesign and improve the platform's UI Language.
An outdated, inconsistent UI was eroding trust and increasing drop‐off.
Modernizing colors, typography, and iconography creates an immediate “we care about your experience” impression and reduces cognitive friction.
02. Boost Engagement & Retention
With DAU down 10% monthly and drop‐off rising, PM needed users to stay and return.
Prioritizing engagement through milestone rewards and clear next‐step prompts turns each small success into a reason to come back, directly addressing churn and lifting active‐user metrics.
Team Structure
1 PM + 1 UXR + Eng Team
As a Product Designer, I led the end-to-end redesign of the Haitou platform, collaborating closely with cross-functional partners to reimagine the experience for next-generation job seekers with a more intuitive, streamlined interface.

Design Challenges
How? might we reduce friction and uncertainty in the job-seeking journey, especially international students, by making information more accessible, applications more trackable, and discovery more targeted?
Competitive Landscape
Competitors focus on general job search features, leaving the needs of international job seekers unmet.
Haitou fills this gap with sponsorship info and streamlined tools.

AI Digest

This design reimagines the job detail page by combining traditional descriptions with intelligent, data-driven insights.
The left panel presents a clear breakdown of role responsibilities, requirements, and benefits, while the right panel introduces interactive modules, AI Summary, Skill Match, and Sponsorship. Together, they create a dual-view experience where users not only read about the position but also gain personalized evaluations of fit and sponsorship transparency.
Hovering on key terms reveals instant explanations, helping users quickly grasp job details without leaving the page.

Two ways to access this page:
Via Job Card Flow
Job Card → Job Description → Company Description → Company Details
This progressive path ensures users first understand the role, then the company behind it.
Direct Company Search
By entering a company name in the search bar, users can jump straight to the Company Details page for a focused exploration.
Together, these paths balance progressive discovery with direct access, supporting both task-driven and exploratory user needs. The page also consolidates key insights—including company profile, culture, milestones, news, and office locations—providing users with a holistic view of the organization.

List View
The cards are designed to be interactive: drag and drop them between columns to reflect progress, or update their status through the three-dot menu.
When users click 'apply' , they will be automatically added to the tracking list.
The Job Application Dashboard is the entry point of the Job Tracker.
It offers a snapshot of your entire job search journey from total applications and interviews, to weekly activity insights and upcoming schedules.

The Job Tracker offers two flexible views. Card View provides a quick, visual way to monitor application progress across stages, while List View adds depth with editable fields for descriptions, notes, and personal insights, making it ideal for detailed tracking and reflection.
The detail module lets users toggle between Weekly Breakdown for activity trends and Status Overview for application outcomes.

Color-Coded Statuses
Each row includes color-coded status labels (e.g., Applied, In Progress, Offer, Rejected), allowing users to identify stages instantly.
Status Tabs
Quickly switch between All, Saved, Applied, In Progress, Offered, and Rejected to filter applications by stage.
Expandable Notes
Users can add descriptions, notes, or reflections for each application—creating a more detailed and editable job management system.
